Arthroscopy of the knee after Meniscectomy
ÑÑû¦âç/Kim, Hyung Soon
ä¡î¨úû/Shim, Jae Hyoung
Abstract
Local healing pattern of the knee after meniscetomy can rarely be observed in man. Twenty-two knees were subjected to arthroscopic examination between one and. nineteen months after excision of the meniscus and the local healing pattern was observed according to the sequence of time after the excision.
1. At one month after the excision, the capsular portion was still reddish, homogenous, and covered by thin fibrin membrane. Between two and three months it took yellowish-red tint and the fibrous covering became thicker.
2. From four months forward, the local pattern seemed to show progressive change and the final picture can grossly be grouped into two types; one is chiefly composed of many fibrous streaks which are elevated and run transversely across the previous meniscus site and the other is made of a thick band-like structure, whiter and narrower than, but more or less. resemble to that of normal meniscus in appearance.
